I have inherited a stonking cold/sore throat from the funeral last week and wondered if any of you lovely people had any remedies?

Ignoring the obvious, I find that gargling with a warm salt-water solution (preferably rock salt, not table) is beneficial for a sore throat. Also, if you like spicy food I'd recommend a garlic and chilli curry - I've tried that for the last two colds I've had and my sore throat cleared up overnight!
I read a remedy for a persistent cough only today and I'm really intrigued to know if it works....rub Vics Vapor Rub on the soles of your feet before going to bed (wear some socks!). Apparently it halts the coughing within minutes and gives you a peaceful night's sleep.
Drink lots of water and get as much rest as a mum can get! Get well soon Cesca xxx

Lots of sleep, lots of water. Hot blackcurrant and ibuprofen/paracetamol. Boots own make blackcurrant cough medicine.
Didn't help me get better any faster but made me feel a whole lot better while I was ill for 3 weeks - d**n freshers flu.
Hope you get well quickly.

The spicy food and the salt water gargle always works for me too! I also like to stock up on Strepsils, they don't really do much but they are nice

Thanks guys, the blackcurrant actually worked a treat! I can't stomach the salt water thing, but I do agree it works! Feel a lot better, just left with a snotty nose and cough!!
