Ok, a majority of you know that I suffer from anxiety disorders and depression, and am currently going through a pretty full on course of exposure therapy. I see my therapist once a week, and am now really getting back on track; I'm meeting friends, going out on my own, and my confidence has really boomed in the last couple of months. So on that front it's all really good. However, the down side is that I get extremely tired now...doing things that seem so simple, like a 5minute walk to Tesco. That leaves me shattered, mainly because of the mental stress I have to maintain to achieve going there. And recently, because I've been working so hard [ I've been into town three times this week! ], I've gotten really run down and it's started to make me feel quite ill. My therapist says I need to hang in there, as it'll pass soon enough when I get back to proper routines, but I don't know how much longer I can last with it haha! So, I was just wondering if any of you guys knew any remedies for tiredness apart from a good night's sleep...I've been sleeping like a log and it makes no difference I have a really balanced and healthy diet, but if anyone could suggest anything I could do to help myself from feeling so shattered I'd be really grateful! Oh, and I can't drink coffee in large amounts, as it's not good for the anxiety or depression...I still drink it, but not every day or anything. Thanks guys xx

Do you have an exercise regime, Shaz? I was very ill several years ago. I couldn't make it through a full week of work for over three months. I changed my diet and then took up exercising, slowly at first and then gradually building it up. It helped immensely and now I can do ten times the amount I was able to do previously. It has made life much more enjoyable and active.
You hang in there. I think it's amazing how much you've achieved and, although there are obviously hard times still, it will be worth it in the end:-)

I agree with Kathy and ing - you're doing so well shaz I'm so pleased that you have been able to get so far. Fantastic work! As for the tiredness, I suppose everything comes at a cost and mental tiredness is so hard to deal with. I don't have any solutions I'm afraid, I would just lay on the settee, totally quiet not listening to anything and sort of drift off into a different world. I can't fall asleep anywhere but at night in bed so I suppose this sort of compensates. How about laying on the settee and taking photo's of your feet LOL!

I find that if I can't sleep, the more I think/worry about not sleeping, the worse I get! Try (I know it's easy to say) to relax, empty your mind (for me this is So easy!), and just drift away. If you don't get a full night's sleep, don't worry too much. You will get that full night's sleep soon.

Thanks guys; you're all so kind. In response: - I wouldn't know what to get at a health shop...? - No, I don't have an exercise regime at the moment, because the trips out are doing that for me...I walk everywhere as it is, and have lost half a stone recently, so that's ok for now. - I could indeed take photos of my feet...I'll try it - Emptying my mind; I took up meditating a few years ago, but it drifted and eventually stopped...I now don't have the patience, but maybe I could get started again... Thank you; you're all such gems...

Reading puts me to sleep... and math sets. You could try that. Also, sleeping in a cool temperature place is better to relax.

Thank you; you're all such gems... I have found that the poeple in most health shops are really lovely and actually know what they are talking about. Just ask what natural remedies they have. I agree with Kelsy, I always sleep with the bedroom window open even in the middle of winter as I cannot sleep if I am too hot/warm.
