Last week I noticed that a birthmark below my breast grew, changed colour and was irritated. Doctor noticed it was a melanoma (skin cancer) and him saying it made me feel a bit (read: very) shocked. All these thoughts went through my mind 'OMG, I'm 29, what if?'. The doc made an appointment with the dermathologist in the hospital for some research. That appointment was this afternoon. The dermathologist discovered a second melanoma on my breast. He assured me they are both benignant, so in an early stage. The op is on Oct. 25th which is 3 weeks away but at least I know there's no need to worry and it'll be ok. See how important early detection is

So happy that you've caught it before it turns nasty! And yes, it's extremely important to get these things checked out as quickly as possible! Well done Ellen for, yet again, handling lifes trials and tribulations with such grace.

Thank goodness it's ok. Glad you got the results really quickly. Nothing more terrifying than being left to worry for a few weeks. Good luck with the op.

This post reminds me of last year when we thought adam had testicular cancer, it really proves that you need to get things like this checked out early as 'hoping it will go away' isnt an option! As always, Ellen, you will be in my thoughts.

Had the op yesterday and did not like it at all Will spare you the details but they removed both melanoma's with success. However, one is send to a lab for research because they didn't trust it Have to go back to hospital on Nov. 8th for the results and they'll also remove the stitches. So keep your fingers crossed until then

Glad the op is over, hope you are recovering well. Don't you just hate waiting for results. It should be instantaneous. I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed that all is well.
