For those who have forgotten (like me), here's an extract from Tony's June 2007 Newsletter which explains more of what this gala was about:
'After the London adventures, I returned to New York for about 36 hours before heading to Chicago for a benefit concert. The event was to celebrate the opening of a new building for the organization called Center On Halstead. I was invited to join a company of past RENT actors and provide the entertainment for this beautiful gala event. Instead of doing the normal 2-Act play, we performed the music in much more of a concert-type setting. I donned the Roger Davis pin-striped pants and joined fellow RENT-ees- some of whom I hadn’t seen in years. So, not only did it feel fantastic to revisit those songs again, but it was a great “mini-reunion” of sorts.'
