Well, not quite. I was walking to Trax (train stop), and then one of my acquaintances about 5 yards in front of me fell. I called out "is your butt ok?" cause he was holding it, and I has just joking.... but when I go up there, there is blood everywhere. I just jump into EMS mode. There was a chunk of his chin missing, and people were just trying to help. I told him what to do, apply pressure, and some people got gauze he could use. I called his dad, and told him it would be alright, but he might need some stitches, while his non-helpful friends where talking about how much blood their was, and that his chin had a big chunk missing. He was doing fine though, just sitting, and holding his chin, and talking, I didn't want him to go into shock, but it seemed he would be ok. I ran to a sandwich shop about half a block away, and asked for a first aid kit, and a big cup of water, but they said I had to pay, very rude I think. Anyways, I just asked someone if I could have a measly 75 cents, and when I got back to my friend, his dad had arrived. I just washed off his hands, and told his dad that LDS hospital wasn't too far, and they were off. I felt really good, that I was there to help. ^^ Well that's it, I can't wait to see him again, but he probably won't come to school tomorrow.

No wonder you feel so buzzed Kelsy, it must be a lovely feeling to know you helped somebody in such circumstances and it sounds like you handled the situation just like a pro! Good work you!

Thanks, yeah, I wanted to call and check in, but I figure I'll just see him at school when he comes back.

Good work Kelsy! You're amazing, a lot of people would've either gone into panic mode or just froze! I know that when little Emma hurt herself badly a few years ago I'm ashamed to say that I went into a panic and couldn't even remember where my car keys were to get to hospital.

You couldn't remember where the keys were? What did you do? What happened to her? =(

I'm afraid I had to stop reading the first part of the thread (as I'm INCREDIBLY squeamish) but I've got the gist of it and well done Kelsy! Sounds like you did a good job

You couldn't remember where the keys were? What did you do? What happened to her? =( I finally took some deep breaths and remembered where they were. When I got to the hospital I couldn't find the car park so I just left the car on a grass verge next to the Casualty! I had been wrapping a birthday gift and she crept up behind me and bent down just as I held up the scissors! The point of the scissors ran across her eye!!!!! It looked horrible! Needless to say we had a three hour wait at the hospital and they put drops in her eye and an eye patch over it and told me not to worry - yeah right! A week later though it was completely healed and back to normal - amazing. I beat myself up for a whole week and even now I have chill's when a child (or me) picks up scissors!

=/ That's an unpleasant accident, but not your fault. It's great that her eye healed, and I can imagine that you would be alarmed when people pick up scissors. Accidents do that to you, I am very careful shutting doors now, because I cut the end of my finger off in one when I was little, but the doctors sewed it back on, and it's as good as new.

Wow, well done Kelsy. We get training in how to deal with these things but never know how we will react when the time comes. Sounds like you're someone I want to have around when I have an accident;-)

That's another one of my phobia's! I also saw a crawling baby cut off the end of their finger in that way. It's a joke among everyone I know when I keep shouting 'watch the door' and 'mind the scissors'!
